Dreams of a lovesick heart

I often dream of paradise lost,

Of my innocence frolicking in dust,

That stupid fighting over stolen lunches,

And residential school mafia backbenchers,

Of teenage infatuation and romances,

Which make me go in deep trances.

I often dream of prophetic dreams,

Of treachery of fickle minded pears,

And their eyes crying crocodile tears,

Of serpents in my lovely courtyard,

That make my life treacherously hard,

Which make me feel completely isolated.

I often dream of mundane phenomenon,

Of messages lost in complex interpretation,

That make me aware of things hidden,

Under the dirt of my worldly education,

Buried deep in my nether regions,

Which make me feel highly maudlin (homesick).

I often dream of ethereal deities,

Of luxury of their sensorial beauties,

And find myself amidst musical melodies,

That play the desires of my lovesick heart,

And my soul’s longing for my beloved,

Which make me feel tragically composed.

Lighthouse

It’s only because of your light,

That I am not yet lost,

In this treacherous stormy night,

Otherwise the winds are heavy,

Enough to break my lifeboat,

And the waters are thirsty,

Enough to drink my lifeblood,

Please keep the light burning,

Until the storm is churning,

My yearning soul,

Until I’m ashore,

Out of harm,

And in your arms.

Lonely Man

I thought you were milk,

And would strengthen my framework,

But you rot my core,

Like country made cheap liquor.
I don’t need you around anymore,

As now I have my paramour,

Man’s best friend and liquor,

My amour to talk to,

My cur to walk with,

My liquor to knock off.
My dog is devoted,

Unlike you my beloved,

He feels my tone,

His love is whole,

He hates being alone,

And guards my home.
My liquor is peaceful,

Unlike you who’s spiteful,

She soothes my weird senses,

And drinks my soul’s tears,

She’s my dear great mistress,

Who never deserts in distress.
My Lord is my anchor,

Unlike you my dear knockers,

Who storm my vessel,

Every now and then,

Despite that I forgive you all,

In the hope of my salvation.
I have what I need,

Food, clothing, shelter and peace,

I know I’m the strongest,

Because I am,

The last to trespass,

The first to apologize,

And to excuse.
But please leave me alone,

With my paramour, cur and liquor,

As I have nothing to atone,

Except my love, faith and soul.

Colloquial Poetry

You have closed the doors,
You have closed the windows,
Of your nirvana on your beloved,
But have kept the top slot unlocked,
To keep an eye on the nomads,
Or you want your utopia plundered?

O’ sky why do you cry?
When my worry cries for me,
O’ thunder why do you strike?
When my woe is my ally,
O’ wind why do you mind?
My beloved is on my side.

Foregone Conclusion

If you want to see me,

Then look yourself in the water,

If you want to hear me,

Then put your ears to the floor,

If you want to smell me,

Then walk in a farm alone,

If you want to feel me,

Then find me deep in your soul,

If you want to taste me,

Then drink from the holy bowl,

If you want to meet me,

Then come to the land of Nod,

We’ll always be in unity,

If we’re in each other all along,

Tryst in reality is then,

A foregone conclusion,

So please don’t lament,

My divine beloved,

And keep watching instead,

The day and night mate,

At the time of sun set.

High spirits

Beloved I remember you,

Arising sitting enjoying suffering,

Every second staying immersed in you,

Falling crumbling breaking separating,

Always staying in high spirits,

Only this, is my mind’s ingenuity.

Being wretched left all doors now,

Beloved I come to your door,

My soul’s only call now,

Beloved to be a sacrifice for you,

You are the only one to ask,

Tell me who else should I invoke.

Thoughts

I’m seated in every heart,

And from me comes,

Remembrance, knowledge and forgetfulness,

Because I am your almighty Lord,

The master and source of all thoughts.

I’m the one who unites and separates,

I’m the love who conquers all hate,

By my command,

Some ascend to my abode,

And some aimlessly wander around,

Because I am your almighty Lord,

The master on the throne,

And the beggar at the door.

Put my trust in your heart,

Leaving everything up to me,

I’m the love absolute,

I’m the lover and beloved,

The one who is omniscient,

Because I am your almighty Lord,

The ruler of all hearts,

The fulfiller of all desires.

You can be the master,

Of the whole universe,

But you may die in regret,

If you forget me in the end,

Because I am your almighty Lord,

Your only hope and salvation,

The desires and thoughts of men,

The only one in Om, Ik Onkar and Amen!

Blaming god

Dear Nanak! Your affairs God did clean up,

Because you were his servant beloved,

What happened to him in our case,

Did we destroy his lentil crop?

Some people are filled with ego and pride,

They forget the journey through urine twice,

Everything is lost when the final hour comes,

Only knowledge and karma go along,

So what use are your vices and corrupt wealth,

That bind us in the cycle of birth and death.

Lord! If you want to degrade then degrade our enemies,

Lust, anger, greed, attachment and hubris,

Why you keep separated beloveds,

Don’t without purpose destroy our lentil crops.
